Liv Arnesen's Lectures and Presentations
Liv Arnesen's Bancroft Arnesen Expedition Presentation
As a sought after speaker fluent in both English and Norwegian, Liv
leads her audiences on her journeys with a multi-media presentation
utilizing historic images and film. Telling about her past journeys and
stories of adventure, she motivates audiences to overcome obstacles by
showing how she stayed true to her dream. Her presentations on the
Bancroft Arnesen Expedition and her other historic expeditions always
keep audiences captivated.
Showing historic still and video footage, Liv tells her inspirational
and motivational story - beginning with a childhood dream and
culminating as she and Ann Bancroft became the first women in history
to ski across Antarctica's landmass.
Liv is currently preparing for a September release of her book No
Horizaon Is So Far, which she and Ann Bancroft co-authored with Cheryl
Dahle, telling the story of Liv and Ann's crossing of Antarctica, which
began on November 13, 2000. Liv and Ann skied and sailed across
Antarctica for 94 days and 1,717 miles (2,747km), pulling 250 pound
(113 kg) sleds full of food and equipment, enduring temperatures as low
as -30 degrees Fahrenheit (-34 degrees Celsius) and winds gusting up to
100 miles (160 km) per hour.
Speaking alone or together as a real-life dynamic duo with Ann
Bancroft, her expedition partner, Liv brings her experience and images
that continually leave her audiences inspired and striving harder to
achieve their own dreams.
Liv uses stunning images of Antarctica and her amazing experiences to
provide insights on subjects that challenge all of us on a daily basis.
Liv Arnesen's Other Lectures
The South Pole - Self-Management
"Realizing Your Dreams" or "Nice Girls Don't Go to the South Pole" are
the titles of Liv's lecture on her solo journey to the South Pole in
1994. This lecture is not simply about a ski tour of 1,200 kilometers
and 50 days of solitude in the polar desert. Liv deals just as much
with the motivation of the enterprise, and the practical and
psychological preparations. The lecture utilizes several types of
media, with slides and videos made on the expedition, and a sound track
with music in addition to the winds from Antarctica.
Mount Everest - Teamwork

The Mount Everest Expedition of 1996 was conceived as an experiment in
leadership and the interplay of personality. Liv on a team of 10
participants underwent comprehensive tests before departure, and
analyzed the results together. The outcome was the hitherto most
successful expedition from the north side - 8 of 10 climbers reached
the summit. Liv, who developed incipient high-altitude cerebral edema,
but turned back in time and the leader, Jon Gangdal, were those who did
not. This was a catastrophic season on Everest, twenty-six people
perishing. However, all members of this team returned safe and sound.
This lecture focuses on teamwork.
Greenland
A general lecture on nature and landscape, flora and fauna, Eskimo
culture, and the early explorers. Information on Liv's previous
expeditions and a journey in the wake of the Vikings. This retraces the
route of Erik the Red, via Iceland, to the historical Old Norse Eastern
Settlements in Greenland.
Svalbard

A general lecture about this fascinating northern island, its
surroundings, the old explorers, flora and fauna. Liv can also lectures
on skiing, trekking, and cruising in small ships.
Fluent in both English
and Norwegian, Liv can present a variety of motivational lectures with
amazing historic images from the first and only woman to have skied
solo and unsupported to the South Pole, crossed the Antarctic landmass
with Ann, and was a member of a team climbing Mount Everest's North
Face during the 1996 season.
